Dating back to 1720, the Lochinvar Hotel, St John’s Town of Dalry was originally built as a coaching inn, serving pilgrims travelling from Edinburgh visit to the nearby St Ninians in Wigtown. It has been serving as an inn for almost three centuries since.
Under new ownership from 2011, the hotel has undergone three years of refurbishment and upgrading. The hotel now meets the needs of the modern traveller and visitors to the Galloway region alike with comfortable en-suite rooms, free wi-fi and excellent food and drink.
While the building itself has seen many changes over the centuries, the Lochinvar Hotel still retains its charm and character, with an ivy-clad facade and Georgian architectural features still visible throughout.
Our location in the historic Galloway region of South West Scotland is ideally placed as a base for exploring the region. Five minutes walk from the Southern Upland Way, we are set among rolling hills, lochs and rivers (with excellent fishing available), forests and the Galloway Forest Park, the UK’s first Dark Sky park, ideal for star spotting!
We look forward to welcoming you to the Lochinvar Hotel: please do feel free to contact us or book online.
